I think free improv is probably the hardest kind of improvisation to do well, not necessarily because it's hard to generate ideas but because it's difficult to remain constrained. Part of the challenge is creating a motive at the beginning and then sticking to it, remembering and referencing it even as you branch out into other textures and material. What do you think?
